The Planning and Zoning Board (PZB) met on Sept. 23, 2025, to allow the Community of Okeechobee voices be heard. The PZB listened to reason AND voted NO to the project. The only person at the meeting who voted YES was the Director of PZB, Mr. William Royce. Mr. Royce would not provide an explanation to his community for approving this project. NOW our Okeechobee Community must attend another Public Meeting on Oct. 9, 2025, at 9 a.m, Room 270 Historic Court House, providing the County Commissioners with the same information as the PZB meeting.

For those of you living in agricultural areas wishing not to be encroached by large outside corporations, PLEASE ADVISE the County Commissioners BEFORE the meeting of your opinion. The time to get involved is NOW before the Agricultural Land is Gone!

Just a reminder:

The application reclassifying 27.27 acres from agricultural land to a Planned Development. The proposed change is for development of the Okeechobee International Sports Village consisting of 3 sports fields, 2,500 seat stadium, 230 lodging units, 5 acres dedicated to studio, office and classroom space, and a restaurant. The applicant is Lake Club Fields, LLC. The property address is 13493 US Hwy 441 SE.
