OKEECHOBEE -- On October 31, 2023, Okeechobee County Deputy Kanarick responded to the Okeechobee Sports Complex about a group of young adults who had significantly damaged the bathrooms under the common area.
The criminal mischief damage was estimated to be around $5,000, with numerous toilets, sinks, and other items damaged beyond repair, closing the bathrooms to the general public.
During the investigation, evidence assisted in identifying three suspects: Carter Tinajero, 13, Jacorey Smith, 14, and James Bawgus Jr., 15.
All case evidence was given to the State's Attorney's Office in the form of warrant requests for F.S.S. 806.13(1)(B)(3) Criminal Mischief of $1,000 or more for each individual named.
On Nov. 7, 2023, the warrants on the above charges were approved and served on the young men who are now in the Department of Juvenile Justice care.
