Teens are threatened with gun at Lock 7

Posted

OKEECHOBEE — A group of teens, who were hanging out at Lock 7 on Christmas Eve, were reportedly threatened by a teen wielding a gun. Namon Anderson, 18, reportedly said, “I’ll shoot you Ho!” to one of the girls, before pointing a black handgun at the group. The vehicle Anderson was in circled the group several times before leaving. One of the teens called her father while a second called the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office.

The vehicle was located and Officer Jessica Francis of the Okeechobee City Police Department performed a traffic stop. Although there were three people in the vehicle, two denied any knowledge of a gun and Anderson said both firearms found in the vehicle belonged to him. Anderson reportedly told officers he pointed the gun at the girl who antagonized him, and he knew it was dumb and he shouldn’t have done it.

One of the firearms was reported stolen in Okeechobee County.

Anderson was charged with grand theft of a firearm and aggravated assault with a firearm without intent to kill. Bond was set at $25,000.
