Two killed in SR 70 crash

HIGHLANDS COUNTY – Two drivers were killed in a head-on crash on SR 70 on June 16, according to the Florida Highway Patrol report.

According to the FHP report, a 41-year-old Lorida man was driving a 2016 Ford Explorer, traveling west on SR 70, west of Northwest New Pine Ridge Road.

A 69-year-old Port St. Lucie man was driving a 2005 Dodge Ram, traveling east on SR 70.

The Explorer crossed the center line, states the FHP report. The left front of the Fort Explorer collided with the left front of the Dodge Ram at 12:10 p.m.

Both drivers were pronounced deceased on the scene.

The crash remains under investigation. FHP Corporal C. Slowick is the investigating officer.
