During We Show Up For Our Communities Month

OKEECHOBEE – In recognition of HCA Healthcare’s annual We Show Up for Our Communities Month, colleagues from HCA Florida Raulerson Hospital came together for a day of service focused on honoring and supporting local veterans. This year’s project, Operation Spring Clean: Veterans Edition, brought hospital colleagues into the community to complete hands-on projects benefiting veterans and veteran-centered organizations across Okeechobee.

On Friday, April 24, more than 30 colleagues volunteered a combined 130 hours at three sites throughout the community, helping preserve local landmarks, enhance nonprofit facilities, and support a veteran homeowner in need. Volunteer efforts included:

  • Veterans Memorial Park preservation: Sanding and preparing historic naval guns and military vehicles at Okeechobee’s downtown Veterans Memorial Park
  • Freedom Ranch beautification: Trimming trees and bushes, raking leaves, and clearing debris to help maintain the property that serves local veterans
  • Veteran home support: Pressure washing, clearing overgrown foliage, and sealing the roof of a local veteran’s home

Through projects like this, HCA Florida Raulerson Hospital colleagues live out the organization’s mission to care for and improve human life by extending compassion and service beyond the hospital’s walls. Volunteering during We Show Up for Our Communities Month reflects HCA Healthcare’s belief that caring for communities is closely connected to caring for patients and supporting one another as colleagues.

HCA Healthcare is committed to building healthier tomorrows by investing time, resources, and partnerships into the communities it serves. In 2025 alone, the organization contributed more than $61 million in enterprise giving and supported more than 10,250 community organizations through donations and volunteer service. Each act of service reinforces how HCA Healthcare continues to We Show Up® for the people and places that depend on us.
