UPDATED: Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office releases name of man whose body was found in submerged vehicle off Cemetery Road in Okeechobee

OKEECHOBEE – The Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the man whose body was found in a submerged vehicle in Taylor Creek last week.

According to the OCSO report, the victim was Paul Murphy, 43, of Jupiter. He reportedly died from gunshot wounds.

James Wade Hodges

James Wade Hodges, 36, of Northwest 31st Lane, has been charged with second degree murder in connection with the death.

The submerged vehicle was found in the waterway, adjacent to the bridge off Northeast 39th Boulevard, known locally as Cemetery Road.

The OCSO Criminal Investigations Unit is working on the case, and investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
