OKEECHOBEE — Nine weeks after reportedly vandalizing a car, a local woman was arrested and charged with felony criminal mischief. Meghen Haylee Davis, 23, was arrested April 13 by Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Sgt. Aric Majere on an Okeechobee County warrant.
On Friday, February 12 at approximately 2:30 a.m., Deputy Shane Bogner was dispatched to a home on Southeast 42nd Street in reference to the complaint. The complainant told the deputy that someone had keyed her 2009 Acura. She explained the car had been at her workplace, the Brahma Bull Restaurant all evening. When she took a break around 10:30 p.m., She did not see any damage on her vehicle, but when she arrived home at about 2 a.m., she saw scratches on the hood and driver’s side of the vehicle.
On Feb. 24, Deputy Gabriel Chavez responded to the restaurant where the manager told him she had reviewed surveillance footage and it captured the crime. In addition, the manager identified the culprit as Davis. After viewing the video, the victim also identified Davis.
Repairs on the vehicle were completed at Lehman’s Auto Body Shop and cost $1,897.11.
A BOLO ( be on the lookout) was placed on Davis, and on April 13, she was arrested. Bond was set at $5,000.
