Woman claims front door was kicked in while she slept

Posted

OKEECHOBEE — On Wednesday, Sept. 3, OCSO Deputy Wright responded to a call in reference to criminal mischief on Southwest 21st Street at approximately 8:30 a.m.

Upon arrival the deputy made contact with the caller, an adult female, who reported that she had woken up about 30 minutes prior and discovered that her front door had been kicked in. She explained that she had went to bed at around 11 p.m. the previous night and had not heard or been woken by anything unusual during the night. She advised that nothing appeared to be missing from the home but that the front door had been kicked in and estimated that it would take her approximately $500 to replace the door.

The deputy observed that the caller’s wooden front door was missing the bottom right corner and that pieces of the door were lying on the floor inside the house. According to the report, shoe prints could be seen on the broken pieces of wood from the door.

Deputy Wright collected the pieces of wood with shoe prints on them to be placed into evidence and gave the caller victim’s rights pamphlet.

The area around the home was searched and neighbors were asked if they had seen anyone or heard anything the night before, or if anyone nearby had a camera that may have recorded the incident, but none of them could provide any information.

This case is inactive until new leads are discovered and no arrests have been made.
