DOH-St. Lucie issues water quality health advisory

Posted

ST. LUCIE COUNTY — The Florida Department of Health in St. Lucie County (DOH-St. Lucie) has issued a water quality advisory for the following locations:

Avalon State Park
Jimmy Buffett Memorial Hwy
Fort Pierce, FL 34949

Pepper Park Beachside
3302 North SR A1A
Fort Pierce, FL 34949

Tests completed on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, indicate that the water quality at the locations listed above did not meet the recreational water quality criteria for Enterococcus bacteria recommended by the Florida Department of Health.

Recent wind, rain and King Tides are likely factors influencing water quality.

DOH-St. Lucie advises against any water-related activities at these locations due to an increased risk of illness in swimmers. Sampling conducted during regular water quality monitoring showed that the level of bacteria exceeds the level established by state guidelines.

This advisory will continue until bacteria levels are below the accepted health level. Test results are available at the FloridaHealth.gov/HealthyBeaches.
