Fisheating Creek Wildlife Management Area (WMA) offers opportunities for hiking, bicycling, wildlife viewing, fishing and more.
The 12,000-acre WMA in Glades County is a great place to view wildlife year-round. It is on the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail. Wading birds, hawks, osprey and owls are common. White-tailed deer, Osceola turkey and alligators are frequently spotted. Large numbers of migratory swallow-tailed kites gather there in late summer.
The WMA is managed by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. The WMA is also important to the long-term welfare of a number of native wildlife, including Florida panthers, Florida black bears, swallow-tailed kites, sandhill cranes and crested caracara.
Entrances are at Fort Center/Banana Grove Road (3010 Banana Grove Road, Moore Haven) and Gaskin’s Entrance (8359 US-27, Moore Haven).
