Fire Fighters “go pink” for breast cancer support services

Posted
In communities in the United States and Canada, fire fighters have started a movement to wear and sell pink T-shirts as part of campaigns to raise money for all women in their fight against cancer.
Firefighters Local #2918 will begin their annual Pink T-Shirt sales for Breast Cancer Awareness. This year’s t-shirt is in memory of former Okeechobee County Dispatcher Dannye Strickland.
The proceeds from the sales will be donated to Hero’s 4 Hope, a local non-profit that assists individuals suffering from the effects of cancer. The cost of the shirts is $20 and they can be purchased at Fire Administration beginning Oct. 2 or at the following local sales events:
• Home Depot, 2700 U.S. 441 S., on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 9 a.m. to noon; and,
• Cowboys BBQ & Steak Co., 202 NE 7th Ave., on Friday, Oct. 16 from 5 to 8 p.m.
Professional Firefighters and Paramedics Local 2918 have participated in this campaign for the past five years.
People wishing to make a donation or get involved, can contact Heroes 4 Hope via their Facebook page; https://www.facebook.com/groups/Heroes4Hope/.
For information, contact Okeechobee County Fire Rescue at 863-763-5544 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Friday.
