TULSA- Former Clewiston Tiger Oran Singleton Jr. is helping lead the Tulsa Golden Hurricane to a 3-0 start.
Three games into the 2026 season, the former Clewiston Tiger is Tulsa's top receiving threat. Through Sept. 20, Singleton has 9 catches for 163 yards, an average of 18.1 yards per catch, with 2 touchdowns and a long reception of 56 yards. Those totals lead the team. His 163 receiving yards are well ahead of the next receiver, and his two touchdown catches are the most on the roster. He is also Tulsa's punt returner, with 5 returns for 25 yards so far.
The Golden Hurricane started 3-0 for the first time since 2008, and its most recent win was its first shutout since 2002.
Singleton played his best game in the season opener, the biggest game on the schedule so far. Tulsa beat Oklahoma State 24-10 for its second straight win over the Cowboys, spoiling Eric Morris' first game as Oklahoma State's head coach. It was the first time since 1952 that Tulsa had won back-to-back games in the series.
Singleton was quarterback Baylor Hayes' top target, with four catches for 99 yards and a touchdown. Just before halftime, a 22-yard catch by Singleton helped set up a Tulsa touchdown that gave the Golden Hurricane a 10-3 lead. Early in the third quarter, Hayes found Singleton for a 21-yard touchdown that finished a 59-yard drive and put Tulsa ahead 17-3.
In a close road game the next week, Singleton caught three passes for 26 yards in Tulsa's 23-17 win at Sam Houston. One of those catches came at a key moment. Early in the second quarter, Hayes hit Singleton for 21 yards down to the Sam Houston 5, and Trequan Jones scored on a 3-yard run on the next play.
On Sept. 19 Singleton did it on offense and special teams to help Tulsa pull away from East Texas A&M. After Tulsa's defense forced a three-and-out on the opening possession, Singleton's punt return gave the Golden Hurricane the ball at its own 40. At the end of that drive, backup quarterback Dexter Williams II found Singleton for a 27-yard touchdown and the game's first points. He finished with two catches for 38 yards and a score in the 42-0 win.
Tulsa's official bio still highlights his time with the Tigers. It notes that he lettered four years at Clewiston High School and was a three-time captain under head coach Pete Walker. It also lists his 4A all-state honors as a senior after he finished his high school career with 3,113 yards and 26 touchdowns, his MVP award at the Palm Beach County All-Star Game, and his time on the CHS baseball team.
