OKEECHOBEE -- Okeechobee Healthy Start is excited to announce the expansion of its Postpartum Doula Program, now available at no cost to all postpartum moms in Okeechobee County. Thanks to funding from the Florida Blue Foundation and the Children’s Services Council of Okeechobee, the program will continue offering free, in-home doula visits focused on newborn care, recovery support, emotional well-being, and self-care guidance.
The expansion also includes mental health support through licensed therapist Jessica Lea of Waves of Change, LLC. Moms can access individual counseling and attend free monthly peer support groups, held every second Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. While moms recharge, children are welcome to join a kids’ group led by Megan Clements, LMHC.
“This expansion reflects our deep commitment to supporting every mother in Okeechobee physically, emotionally, and mentally,” said Andrea Medellin, executive director.
