OKEECHOBEE  — On Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2026, Rep. Darren Soto and Okeechobee County Commissioner Terry Burroughs visited three small businesses in Okeechobee County. They spoke with owners and workers about bringing more visitors and shoppers to Okeechobee’s Main Street, improving traffic safety  and bringing manufacturers and good-paying jobs to the area. Rep. Soto also discussed his work to lower costs, protect healthcare, and root out corruption in Washington.

“Okeechobee’s small businesses are the heart of this town, and the owners and workers I met today know exactly what they need to grow,” said Rep. Soto. “They want more people walking down Main Street, safer roads for families and truck traffic, and new manufacturers that bring steady, good-paying jobs. I’m grateful to Commissioner Burroughs for showing me around, and I look forward to working in Washington to help keep Okeechobee County moving forward.”
