MOORE HAVEN -- Bernard “Shorty” Steinke turned 100 years old on Aug. 7, and he celebrated the milestone by hitting the links at the Glades RV Resort.

Shorty and friends play a round of scramble golf at Glades RV before retiring for lunch at the clubhouse. He’s an avid golfer and plays 18 holes of golf at least five days a week.

He was born to a family of 12 siblings on a farm in Ohio. He married Audrey and they had 3 children, Lavelle and twins, Ricky and Vickie.

Shorty had his own business for over 60 years and was a certified electrician, plumber and HVAC. Even though he’s technically retired, he still works with the Glades RV Resort and helps whenever he is asked.

According to Shorty, the secret to a long life is to stay busy. He says he is blessed to be surrounded with friends who he enjoys tremendously.
