Congratulations to the Robert B. & Catherine Waldron Family for being selected as the 2020 Swamp Cabbage Festival Pioneer Family. They were married in 1922 and moved to LaBelle in 1934. They had 3 children, Margaret, Virginia and Bobby, all deceased. Robert Waldron was County Commissioner for 8 years and City Commissioner for 4 years. He built the LaBelle Motel in 1956. He was a founding member of the American Legion Post 130, a 33 Degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite in Ft. Myers. Children and grandchildren still live and work in LaBelle, keeping it the friendly country town LaBelle is known for. Their nomination was submitted by their grandson, Robert E. Hollingsworth of LaBelle.
