HCSO welcomes new hires

LABELLE -- On Monday, Dec. 5, 2022, Sheriff Steve Whidden swore in six new members to the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO).
 
Palm Beach County native, Corrections Deputy Marvin Similien, graduated from Glade Central Community High School in 2021. Marvin attended the Southwest Florida Public Service Academy in May of 2022. He worked for the Moore Haven Correction Facility before coming to the HCSO. Similien is assigned to the HCSO Jail Division.
 
Corrections Deputy Coty Davis went to Riverdale High School graduating from there in 2004. Davis comes from a family of law enforcement officers which had a direct influence on his decision to become a correctional officer. Before coming to HCSO, Davis operated his own construction company. Davis is assigned to the HCSO Jail Division.
 
Corrections Deputy Mikeya Herring is from Hendry County. Before coming to the HCSO, she was employed for the Glades County Sheriff’s Office as a control room operator. Herring is assigned to the HCSO Jail Division.
 
Corrections Deputy Anthony Najjar is from Lee County. He graduated from Estero High School in 2015. He is currently taking college courses at American Military Institute to obtain a degree in Criminal Justice. Najjar graduated from the Southwest Florida Public Service Academy in February of 2017. Najjar previously worked for the Florida Department of Corrections at Charlotte Correctional before coming to HCSO. Najjar is assigned to the HCSO Jail Division.
 
Dispatcher Kaylee Guntrum is from Lee County. She graduated from South Fort Myers High School in 2019. Before joining HCSO Kaylee worked in asset protection at Walmart. Guntrum is assigned to the Dispatch Center.
 
Hendry County native Dispatcher Abby Claude, graduated from Clewiston High School in May 2022. Claude participated in the Clewiston High School Public Safety Academy for three years, she graduated with her E911 Telecommunications Certification from the program. She is currently attending Florida Southwestern State College working on her AA degree. Claude is assigned to the Dispatch Center.
