(April 3, 2020) – Hendry County is issuing the following advisory regarding COVID19:
· Taking care of yourself and your loved ones is the most essential function at this time
· Staying home is critical to slowing the spread of COVID-19 in our community
· Hendry County will not allow team and/or organized sports in our public parks or spaces that violate CDC guidelines
· It is strongly advised that residents abide by the CDC guidelines and specifically adhere to them in regards to mass gatherings including church services as well as activities in a park or similar setting. Please identify and adopt nontraditional methods for these types of events. Exposing larger numbers of people to COVID-19 will expose vulnerable populations to the virus and increase the risk of community spread
o Vulnerable populations include, but are not limited to, individuals 65+ and those with chronic lung disease, moderate-to-severe asthma, serious heart conditions, immune compromised status, cancer, diabetes, severe obesity, renal failure and liver disease https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/organizations/index.html
Hendry County strongly advises residents to abide by Executive Order 20-91 issued by Governor Ron DeSantis, specifically concerning large gatherings and individuals 65 years and older and people with underlying medical conditions.
