Hendry County Commission holds budget workshop

LABELLE — The Hendry County Commission held a budget workshop before its regular meeting on Tuesday, April 28.

The budget overview for fiscal year 2026-2027 is predicted as follows:

  • Total budget $133.7M
  • General fund $51.5M
  • Ad valorem budgeted estimate at current millage rate 6.7700 totals $30.8M
  • Percent total collected ad valorem 85.3%
  • Tax certificates have not been sold yet so the percentage of ad valorem taxes collected is expected to go up.

Roughly 44% of the 2026 budget will be used for the Sheriff’s Department and another 44% for the Board of County Commissioners. The remaining 12% is split up between the Tax Collector, Supervisor of Elections, Clerk, Property Appraiser, and 2% in reserve.

Estimated impact fees for the fiscal year 2026-2027 were also addressed during the workshop.

Impact fee totals:

  • Admin fees – $43,261.24
  • Transportation zone 1 – $302,615.17
  • Transportation zone 2 – $162,861.07
  • Transportation zone 3 – 8,230.35
  • EMS – $62,718.83
  • Corrections – $30,229.47
  • Law enforcement – $144,671.83
  • School board – $1,408,473.52

Making the grand total for all departments $2,163,061.48
