LAKE WALES — The LaBelle High School Cowboy weightlifting team closed out the regular season with a strong finish in Lake Wales on March 21.
Out of the 14 schools competing in the meet, LaBelle finished in second place overall in the Olympic category and second place overall in the traditional category. Senior Justin Thach finished the regular season undefeated in both Olympic and traditional, while junior Marquay Bradshaw and Jacquay Bradshaw both finished undefeated in the Olympic category.
On March 7 the Cowboys competed at Lemon Bay High School in an 11-school invitational. The team earned runners-up in both the Olympic and traditional divisions, with senior Justin Thach and junior Jacquay Bradshaw both finishing first in their categories.
Back on Feb. 28 the Cowboys had another great finish at the Wildcat Invitational. The Cowboys finished in second place overall in both categories out of 10 teams. Thach and both Bradshaw’s earned first place honors in both categories. Junior Jacobo Perez set a new school record in the Snatch category, lifting 205 pounds in the 183 weight class.
Justin Thach recently signed a letter of intent to continue his education at Warner University. Thach was the 2025 Individual State Champion, joining five other Cowboys who have earned that honor.
