LaBELLE - Mrs. Howard, Mr. Kelley, and Mrs. Bass recently announced that LaBelle High School will be holding a “Be the Light” tribute to seniors on Friday, May 1, 2020. During this event they will turn on the stadium lights to show support for the Class of 2020 and their families. This will be a drive-through only event, all CDC guidelines must be adhered to, so there will be no exiting of vehicles, and no mingling. The gates will open at 8:15 p.m. for students. The first 100 seniors to drive through, will receive a special gift.
You can view their video announcement and the rules for the event on the LaBelle High School Facebook page.
Principal Kelley also issued the following letter to the Class of 2020:
Senior Students:
Many of you have finished your online Plato classes and I am very proud of you for your efforts! Many of you have passed all testing requirements and I’m also very proud of that. Your graduating class of 2020 was on pace to be the first graduating class with a school grade of “A” in the history of Hendry County Schools high schools. Our graduation rate would also have been the highest in LHS history, coming in around 91-94 percent.
All of this is positive news for the class of 2020 but we can do a little better. Due to the Covid-19 emergency, the State of Florida has waived all testing requirements for seniors this year. All seniors just need to finish their credits and maintain a minimum of a 2.0 GPA to receive a standard diploma. Because of this change, your class should be able to reach a graduation rate goal closer to 94-97%. Please email me if you are in need of any type of assistance to help your class and yourself reach this goal. Decide to make history!
Sincerely,
David Kelley
Principal
