Local man accused of breaking into pharmacy

Posted

LABELLE — In the early morning hours on Friday, Oct. 3, Hendry County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) was advised of a commercial alarm occurring at K&M Pharmacy, located at 149 Hickpochee Ave. within the City limits of Labelle.

When deputies arrived, they found that a windowpane had been broken. It was discovered that the subject had reached through the broken glass, allowing him access into the entire building.

Once inside, a search of the building was completed, and no one was located inside the business. HCSO K9 Deputies arrived on scene and assisted with the entire search of the building and were able to track the suspect a short distance east of the business.

Upon arrival of business staff, they were able to access both inside and outside video footage. Deputies were able to identify the suspect.

HCSO Investigators responded to the home of the suspect where they found him sitting in a vehicle parked in the driveway wearing the same clothing as that of the person in the video. He was also identified by a unique tattoo on the right side of his neck.

Damian Marc Strickland, 26, of LaBelle. was taken into custody and transported to a Hendry County Facility for questioning.

Items taken from the store included a candy bar, can of coke and a pair of sunglasses, which Strickland was apparently wearing at the time of his arrest.

Strickland was charged with petit theft, burglary to an unoccupied building and felony criminal mischief. He is being held at HCSO Jail with no bond.
