Martin Luther King, Jr. March in LaBelle

Posted

Despite the chilly weather, LaBelle’s Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Parade brought our small community together. After a prayer circle, the parade began lead by Sheriff Steve Whidden driving his patrol vehicle. Citizens followed some with signs, strollers, even riding bikes together, flanked by the Fire Department, travelling north on MLK Boulevard and around to the James Singleton Center, where a delicious donated lunch was served. Several of our community leaders and citizens spoke about how important this day, this gathering, and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is to everyone. Cynthia Williams, who has attended this event every year for the past 20 years said with a smile, “This is the most diverse crowd I have ever seen here.”
