HENDRY COUNTY- Local Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Representative, Jessica Sanchez, stopped by the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) March 24, to drop off informational pamphlets for the community.
MADD is an organization that is on a mission 'to end drunk driving, help fight drugged driving, support the victims of these violent crimes, and prevent underage drinking.'
According to MADD, there are 10,265 deaths a year that can be attributed to drunk driving. That’s 28 deaths every day and one death every 51 minutes. Each and every one of them 100% preventable.
“There are 290,000 injuries per year means exponentially more friends, family members and loved ones, unnecessarily effected by this preventable crime,” the web site states.
“The statistics are horrifying. The danger is real – and it can wreak life-changing devastation anytime, anywhere, in the blink of an eye. The destruction ripples out, impacting two out of three people in their life time,” MADD stated on their website.
If you would like to know more about MADD and the resources they offer, stop by the HCSO and pick up a pamphlet, and/or visit their website at: https://www.madd.org/
