HENDRY COUNTY — The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is performing drainage improvements, ditch reconstruction, pavement reconstruction, and other incidental construction activities on State Road (S.R.) 29 from Oklahoma Avenue to Park Avenue.
Phase 1 construction is complete, and North Lee Street between Washington Avenue and Fort Thompson Avenue is now open to traffic. All lanes in the Phase 1 work area are open.
Phase 2 work will require the closure of Fort Thompson Avenue between North Missouri Street and North Lee Street beginning Monday, February 23, 2026. Drivers will follow a signed detour route using North Missouri Street, Washington Avenue, and S.R. 29. Pedestrian access will be shifted to Washington Avenue.
Motorists are encouraged to add additional travel time, follow posted detour signs, and use caution while traveling through the area. Drivers are urged to watch for workers, equipment, and changing traffic patterns in the construction zone.
