LABELLE – In the spirit of the holiday, one thousand turkeys are set to be distributed to families across Hendry County this Thanksgiving season. St. Matthew’s House will host Hope for the Holidays and distribute the turkeys on Friday, Nov. 21.
Included with each 12-16 pound turkey will be meal kits filled with mashed potatoes, canned vegetables, stuffing mix, mac ’n cheese, eggs, pies and additional items that’ll be a great treat for families to share during a wonderful Thanksgiving meal.
The drive-thru distribution will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on Florida SouthWestern State College’s LaBelle Campus located at 1092 E. Cowboy Way. Vehicles should enter at Forrey Sports Park.To receive a turkey and meal kit an ID stating the recipient is a Hendry County resident is required.
St. Matthew’s House started Hope for the Holidays more than 20 years ago by distributing 400 turkeys and are now distributing over 8,000 turkeys and meal kits for families across Southwest Florida at various events. The collaboration of partners and the community has allowed them to fund the need and sustain the growth.
Support for this year's Hope for the Holidays is provided by FPL, Capital Wealth Advisors, Hendry County Sheriff’s Office, and United Way of Lee, Hendry, and Glades.
“This time of year can be especially challenging for many families in our community,” said Lisa Sands, United Way, Community Impact Director, Hendry and Glades. “We are proud to support this remarkable program, which brings hope and joy to so many in Hendry County and helps make the holiday season a little brighter for all.”For more information on United Way of Lee, Hendry, and Glades, visit UnitedWayLee.org.
