Rally on the river
The River’s Edge Motel and the Swamp Cabbage Festival committee invite you to enjoy a night of food and music on the water. The River’s Edge Hotel will host a captains meeting for the 2017 SCF Bass Tournament and they are allowing you to crash their party! So come out and say hi and share your excitement for the weekend’s festivities.
Swamp Cabbage Parade
On February 25 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. the Swamp Cabbage Parade will begin on South Main St at the Catholic Church. The Grand Marshal, Joe Thomas, will lead the precession towards Barron Park where activities and food vendors can be found. Come early and pick your spot anywhere along the route. After the parade is over, make your way down Lee St and check out the car show.
Car show planned
On February 25 the 11th Annual Legends of the Road Super Cruise and Show will be held on North Lee Street at 8 a.m. The event is being hosted by the South Central Florida Car Club. All motor heads are welcome to come and show off their rides. All makes and models are welcome- as long as it has wheels, dust her off and come out and have a great day. Over 50 trophy’s will be awarded- Dash plaques to the first 200. We will have a 50/50 and door prizes too. Registration is 15.00 at the gate day of the show. Need more info, call 863-634-1791. This is just a reminder, with The Legends of the Road Car Show and Cruise being held on North Lee Street the following cross streets will be blocked off from crossing traffic from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. Those streets will be Ft. Thompson, Washington and Oklahoma,
Come enjoy the band
The Quart House, 100 S Main Street, LaBelle, will present the Troy Thompson Band open to the public on Saturday, February 25 beginning at 5 p.m. Food (swamp cabbage fritters, smoked whole pig) and drinks will be available for purchase.
Swamp Stomp 5K
Caloosa Humane Society’s 12th Annual Swamp Stomp 5K Run/Walk to benefit our animals! Saturday, February 25 ∙ 7:30 a.m. starting at Grandeur Oaks Town Center. Friday, February 24, will be the Captains Meeting from 4-5 p.m Captains Dinner and Rally on the River from 5-9 p.m. Saturday, February 25, check in at the docks at 6 a.m., Fishing from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Weigh-in from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Awards given at 4:15 p.m. at Barron Park. Cruise the Caloosahatchee
Cruise the Caloosahatchee for approximately two hours at Swamp Cabbage Festival on February 25 and 26 from the LaBelle Wharf at the north end of Barron Park at 8:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. aboard M/V River Queen, an eco-friendly tour boat with a rest room. Guides include Amy Bennett Williams, News-Press Tropicalia writer and author of On the Caloosahatchee featuring picture post cards of the river from more than 100 years, Margaret England, award winning president of the Hendry and Glades County Audubon Society, Hendry County educator and “river rat” Scott Cooper, and local historian Joe Thomas. Advance tickets are $30 each and are available online at www.labelleheritagemuseum.org if purchased by credit card. Come to the rodeo
The 8th Annual Swamp Cabbage Festival Ranch Rodeo will be on Friday, February 24 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, February 25 at 6 p.m.at the LaBelle Rodeo Arena, SR 29 South, LaBelle. Real working Florida Cowboys and Cowgirls unitlize their roping and riding skills in this competitive extravaganza to qualify for the Florida Cattlemen’s Association state finals in Kissimmee. Enterence is $10 for adults and free for children 10 and under.
Country Western Dance
The Hendry County Cattlewomen host the Country Western Dance on Saturday, February 25 from 9 p.m.- 1 a.m. at the LaBelle Civic Center, 481 W State Road 80, LaBelle. There is a $20 cover charge. This is for adults only, 18 and over to enter. No cooler charge.No glass containers, please.
Barrell Racing and Youth Ranch Rodeo
