4-H Camps open to Okeechobee children

OKEECHOBEE -- The Okeechobee County Extension Office has openings for two popular summer camp programs.
Trek Through Florida History Camp will present youth with opportunities to learn more about Florida history, our different cultures, and the Arts. Trips planned include Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum, the Norton Museum, Tampa History Center, Legoland, and other activities that will be focused on hands on history and creativity. History Camp is presented byUF/IFAS Extension/Okeechobee 4-H, and made possible through a grant from Children's Services Council of Okeechobee. Daily camp drop off and pick up is at South Elementary School Cafetorium. Camp openings are still available for June 17-21 and July 8-12. Youth must have been at least 8 years old as of Sept. 1, 2023, to attend this camp. $175 registration fee includes daily lunch, snacks, camp shirt, and admission for all camp excursions. H20 Encounter Environmental Education Camp will provide local youth an opportunity to explore fresh and saltwater environments on both Florida coasts. Trips planned include an Eco-Tour of Charlotte Harbor, Science Museum visit, water park fun, and other hands-on learning experiences focused on Florida’s ecosystems.H20 Camp is presented byUF/IFAS Extension/Okeechobee 4-H and made possible through a grant from Children’s Services Council of Okeechobee. Daily drop off and pick up is at South Elementary School Cafetorium. Camp openings are still available June 10-14, June 24-28, and July 22-26. Youth must have been at least 8 years old as of Sept. 1, 2023, to attend this camp. $175 registration fee includes lunch, snacks, camp shirt, and admission for all camp excursions.
