With her 9-month-old baby in the car, a woman allegedly ran over the child’s father after an argument outside a local restaurant.

On Tuesday, April 16, Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Deputy Brian Cross was dispatched to the 2200 block of Northwest 22nd Avenue in reference to a domestic dispute in progress. Deputy Cross reportedly found the alleged victim on Northwest 32nd Avenue and observed cuts and blood covering his face. The man explained that he and his girlfriend, Megan Cline, 24, Northwest 34th Avenue, had an argument after leaving a restaurant.

He said he asked her why she had been flirting with the bartender and this made her angry. He claimed she punched him in the face several times and, rather than fight with her, he got out of the car and began walking. He said as he was walking, she got out of the car and ran after him but bumped into him, tripping and falling to the ground. He said he kept walking and the next thing he knew, the car was racing toward him, and when he turned toward it, he said Cline hit him with the car and his head hit the windshield, busting the windshield out. He said he called a friend to come pick him up, and he did not want to press charges. EMS was called, but he refused treatment.

Meanwhile, Deputy Jonathan Gove found Cline in her silver 2009 Honda in the 9000 block of U.S. 98 North. The vehicle had a hole in the windshield.

Two witnesses both said they saw Cline run over the victim. One of them said he tried to keep him there so he could get medical help, but he just walked away.

Cline was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Her bond will be set by the judge. The baby was given to his father, the victim. The vehicle was towed.
