Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is grounded in many principles supporting the mission of service. The five international program initiatives, Empower Our Families, Build Our Economic Wealth, Enhance Our Environment, Advocate for Social Justice, and Uplift Our Local Community initiatives, focus on improving the lives of our local community members.
Our recent community service efforts were a testament to the power of collective action. Through the Build Our Economic Wealth Committee, we joined together for an engaging presentation that empowered mompreneurs as they navigate to find balance.
The Enhance Our Environment Committee, in recognition of Earth and Arbor Days, donated potted plants to area Senior Center Facilities/Organizations, including Clewiston Nursing/Rehabilitation Center, Glades Healthcare Center of Pahokee, Quiet Waters Senior Center, and South Bay Golden Girls.
Members of Mu Rho Omega also played a role in the Great American Cleanup in the city of South Bay.
To honor Mother’s Day, the Uplift Our Local Community Committee visited the South Bay Golden Girls/Boys, showering the local senior citizens with gift bags, sweet treats, and engaging games.
The Empower Our Families Committee, in observance of Mental Health Awareness Month, united in the fight against stigma and raised awareness about mental health and wellness. The Mental Health Fair at Glades Pioneer Park was a community event filled with health and wellness-related activities, healthy snacks, and vendors.
The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Mu Rho Omega Chapter has steadfastly committed to positively impacting its service areas, including Belle Glade, Clewiston, Pahokee, and South Bay. Our recent service initiatives have brought us closer as a community and yielded encouraging results.
