Aubrey W. Lippert, age 83, of Paducah, Kentucky and Okeechobee, Florida, passed away at 6:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Johnson City Medical Center, Johnson City, Tennessee.
Aubrey was born in McCracken County on November 30, 1940. He was a graduate of Heath High School class of 1958 and Paducah Community College class of 1960.
Aubrey began his banking career at Peoples First National Bank in 1961 and resumed his position at the bank after serving his country in the United States Army Reserves in 1961 and 1962. His leadership qualities and banking skills were recognized, and over the next 40 years he steadily climbed the management ladder from the lowest rung to the top, helping build the institution more than sevenfold. He retired at the top as CEO and Chairman of Peoples First Corporation.
Aubrey’s leadership was also shared with local civic organizations and businesses such as McCracken County Red Cross, Rotary Club, Greater Paducah Industrial Development Association, Administrative Board of Western Baptist Hospital, and Board member of Computer Services, Inc.
He was a farmer: growing tobacco and cows. He was a golfer. He loved keeping up with technology. He was a fisherman who loved the home he and Betty had recently built in Okeechobee, Florida. He loved riding his motorcycle with friends. He attended Paducah First Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Okeechobee and shared his faith with many. He was a family man. He was a friend.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Betty Lippert; daughters, Julie Duncan (Phil) of Cincinnati, Ohio and Amy Wegloski (Frank) of Washington, Indiana; granddaughters, Mason and Harper Duncan; grandsons, Connor and Luke Gratz (Kelcie), great-granddaughter, Mattie Gratz; stepsons, Craig Abbott and Gary Abbott (Pam); brother-in-law, Terry Jones (Brenda); sister-in-law, Gracie Dowell (Bill); a loving extended family and a host of friends.
Aubrey was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Wilkins Lippert; his parents, Walter J. and Dena Lippert and his sister, Shirley Lippert Russell.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
