Linda Sue Surber, 78, of Chillicothe, OH, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2025 at the Chillicothe VA Center. Born August 22, 1946 in Athens, OH, she was the daughter of the late Pearl Emerson Spencer and Gertrude Elizabeth Hawk Sherwood. A tough though loving and generous woman, Linda would help anyone who was in need. She had a quick wit and was known to be ornery, a trait her family and friends loved. Her family meant the world to her and was known to be a great sister.
She was an Army Vietnam era veteran, serving for 3 years in France and Germany as a registered nurse. She was also an active member of the VFW and American Legion where she made countless friends. After her loyal service to the country, she lived in Florida for over 20 years before moving back to Ohio to be with her family.
She is survived by her siblings, Pam (Daniel) Ramirez, Sharon Kaldor, Lynn (Barry) Bolin, Keith (Audra) Kelley, Brian (Kiesha) Kelley; nephews, Mike Tinkham, Scott Tinkham, John Dunfee, Daniel Ramirez, JB Walker; nieces, Cindy Tinkham, Amelia Ramirez; close cousin, Keith (Rita) Thomas; and numerous extended family members. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William Surber; and siblings, Brent Spencer and Rita Spencer Tinkham. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hughes Funeral Home of Athens, OH where you may call upon the family on Saturday, July 26, 2025 from 11AM - 1PM.
