Sarah Regina Hamrick

Sarah, age 73, passed away Tuesday, June 04, 2024, in her home in Okeechobee, FL. Regina was born to Harvey and Sarah Hamrick in Ft. Pierce, FL and raised in Okeechobee, FL, coming from generations of early Florida pioneers and settlers. Regina graduated from Okeechobee High School in 1969. She received her associates degree from Palm Beach Community College and her Bachelor of Science in Education from Florida Atlantic University. Regina taught Kindergarten and first grade in Okeechobee for 29 years before her retirement in 2001.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jean Harvey Hamrick and Sarah Minehan Hamrick; grandparents: Richard Ellis Hamrick, Sr. “Colonel”, Annie B. Hamrick, James R. Minehan, Ruth Angler Minehan; uncles: David O. Hamrick (Betty), R.E. Hamrick, Jr. (Jacoba), and James R. Minehan; and cousins: John E. Hamrick, Richard David Hamrick, and Cynthia Hamrick.
She is survived by cousins: William Andrew Arrants (Teresa), Michael (Anita) Hamrick, Mary Ann Hamrick, Mary Hamrick, Daniel Hamrick, Allison Lanford, (Madison, Connor), D. Jefferson Hamrick, R. Alexander (Erin) Hamrick (Leah, Charlotte), Cheryl Hamrick, Rachel (Steven) Locke (Finn), Paige (Abed Ali) Hamrick (Saad, Abby), Martha Minehan Benson; W. Gregory (Shannon) Benson, Matthew (Lauren) Benson, Michael Benson and many more friends that have become her Okeechobee family.
Regina loved to play cards, guide Bible studies, cook for others, and watch football, especially the Florida State Seminoles, University of Georgia Bulldogs, and the Miami Dolphins. Regina was raised in the Methodist Faith but later found her home in the Lord at First Baptist Church of Okeechobee.
Regina’s celebration of life will be Tuesday, June 11, 2024. 2:00-4:00 pm visitation with a 4:00 pm service to follow at First Baptist Church of Okeechobee, 401 SW 4th St, Okeechobee, FL 34974. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
Regina loved flowers but would also welcome donations to the following non-profits: Refuge Ranch (24240 SW Martin Hwy, Okeechobee, FL 34974); Dunklin Memorial Camp (3342 SW Hosannah Lane, Okeechobee FL); Hospice (Hamrick House) of Okeechobee (411 SE 4th St, Okeechobee, FL, 34974); and Real-Life Children’s Ranch (7777 US 441 E. Okeechobee, FL 34974).
