CLEWISTON -- On Wednesday, June 5, 2024, detectives simultaneously executed three search warrants at three different locations in the Harlem community in response to an ongoing investigation into shootings.
Hendry County Sheriff's Office had received several calls sparking the investigation, the last on Wednesday May 29, 2024, which led to the request for both search and arrest warrants of eight individuals.
This incident occurred at approximately 4:47 p.m. in the area of M&M Convenience Store, located at 944 Kentucky Ave., in Clewiston. It was reported that there were several juveniles fighting in the parking lot and gunshots being fired.
As deputies arrived on scene, the juveniles were observed running in several directions. Detectives along with road patrol deputies recovered several shell casings near the entrance of the store and later deputies received reports of bullets lodged in vehicles and residences. Witnesses interviewed in the area were able to identify some of the individuals and provide deputies with an account of what had occurred.
Hendry County detectives requested eight arrest warrants on these individuals along with search warrants.
On June 5, 2024, deputies did take into custody the following suspects:
• 41-year-old Roosevelt Adderly, Jr., of Clewiston, was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine. Adderly was released on June 5 on $2,500 bond.
• 19-year-old Larry Willingham, of Clewiston, was arrested and charged with affray and was released June 5 on $2,500 bond.
• 18-year-old Jerzavian Pope, of Clewiston, was arrested and charged with affray and was released June 5 on $2,500 bond.
• 20-year-old Michael Holmes, of Clewiston, was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed firearm, possession of marijuana and violation of probation. Holmes is currently being held in the Hendry County Jail with no bond.
• 17-year-old male of Clewiston was arrested and charged with child abuse without great bodily harm, affray, discharging a firearm in pubic and possession of firearm by a minor. Juvenile is currently being held at the Department of Juvenile Justice
• 17-year-old male of Clewiston was arrested and charged with child abuse without great bodily harm, affray, discharging a firearm in pubic and possession of firearm by a minor. Juvenile is currently being held at the Department of Juvenile Justice.
• 16-year-old male of Clewiston was arrested and charged with affray. Juvenile released to parent.
• 15-year-old male of Clewiston was arrested and charged with child abuse without great bodily harm, affray, discharging a firearm in pubic and possession of firearm by a minor. Juvenile is currently being held at the Department of Juvenile Justice.
