During the evening hours of June 7, 2024, Hendry County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputies conducted a traffic stop on County Road 78, which resulted in the arrest of 58-year-old Beverly Marcia Maxwell, of LaBelle.
While speaking with Maxwell, deputies noticed a bulge in her clothing. Maxwell was found to have a what appeared to be a crack pipe concealed in her clothing. Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and located a plastic baggie containing a white residue, which tested positive for cocaine.
Maxwell was taken into custody and transported to the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office. While enroute to the Hendry County Jail, Maxwell was asked again if she had any additional drugs on her; she admitted to having concealed additional illegal narcotics on her body consisting of both cocaine and fentanyl. She turned them over to law enforcement.
In addition to this arrest, on June 8, 2024, additional narcotic charges were placed against Maxwell involving a previous investigation with HCSO deputies.
Maxwell is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of controlled substance and trafficking in fentanyl. She’s being held in the Hendry County Jail with no bond.
